Photo Filters Give You Away
People used to joke that those who had a lot of cosmetic procedures had “caught the aesthetic disease”. The truth is this: once people dissatisfied with their appearance take the plunge and have something done, they learn how easily some things can be changed.
When you easily change a nose you dislike with a painless closed rhinoplasty, you start asking yourself: “Why shouldn't I enlarge my small breasts, or have the fat I can't lose removed?”
Once the finances can be arranged, a person who has come into this world only once asks: why not?
What is labelled the aesthetic disease is in fact “body dysmorphic disorder”, a disturbance of body image: instead of solving their various problems, the person keeps working on their own body, necessarily or not. I of course agree on this point. Urgent psychotherapy…
Today, however, there is a danger greater than people changing themselves with aesthetic surgery.
In the past, at least, it was clear what we liked and disliked, and the options were either to have aesthetic surgery or to accept it and live with it.
Today, instead of making real changes boldly, we change ourselves with photo filters. What's so bad about that? 🙂 Like everyone else, the person who uses a photo filter believes the result too. The consequence: the perception of reality collapses.
