FUE Hair Transplantation

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a technique for extraction of hair follicles for transplantation. It has gained popularity in recent years due to minimal traumas, elimination of incisions and stitches, and better alignment possibility of follicles during transplantation.

FUE Hair Transplantation is done by extraction of grafts from the back of the hair which are resistant to loss and implanting on the other parts of the head. These follicles preserve their resistance to loss in their new areas too. Eyebrow, eyelash, beards, moustache, and scar tissue hair transplantations can be done with the same approach. Depending on the transplantation area, the process can take 2-10 hours. All of the processes are done under local anesthesia and you can leave after the operation is done. It is not a painful operation. Due to no incisions, no scar marks are created with FUE Hair Transplantation. Hair transplantation is a process that can be done while having conversations, making meal and rest breaks. Although it is a very comfortable and easy process, this is a surgical procedure and should be done by a medical team under the supervision of a plastic surgeon.

What is FUE Punch?

FUE is done with the principle of extracting graft via instruments that are called punch or extractor. These punches have a diameter of 0,6-1,3 mm. More smaller ones aren’t used because they don’t have any advantages but disadvantages such as harming the grafts. Don’t get fooled by commercial uses of these numbers. These instruments have been improved by electrical motors to increase their efficiency. For this reason it can be sometimes called p-FUE (power-FUE) in some places.

What is the Difference Between DHT-Hair Transplantation and FUE Hair Transplantation?

Although it is called DHT-Hair Transplantation in some European countries, it still is FUE. DHT is the acronym for Direct Hair Transplantation term and is invented solely based on commercial motivations. Only difference is that on DHT follicles are not transferred to the implantation area with slits but by using Choi Implanter.

How are Grafts Extracted For Transplantation in FUE?

We don’t want you to arrive hungry for hair transplantation. After photographing, your hair will be shaved by us in the operating room. This will allow us to see the propensity of your hair. After shaving, extraction and transplantation areas are marked with drawings. For transplantation, areas that are resistant to loss are prefered.

Due to the quality of hair on other parts of the body, they are not used for hair transplantation. After areas are decided with drawings, you will lay face down and the extraction area will be anesthetized. Only things you will feel are very thin needles. After local anesthesia, you will feel no pain during the process. After proper numbness is achieved, grafts will be extracted and will be gathered in the specially made Frozen – PLT Graft Storage units to preserve their life. Frozen – PLS Graft Storage units have a high importance during hair transplantation.
